THE MARSHALL BRIDGE
Marshall, Missouri

HISTORY:

The Marshall Bridge has long been a source of great evil, and great controversy. The local myth is that when the town was founded, around 1849, the pillars of the community made a deal with a powerful demon to ensure the prosperity of the town. What they got was a town that grew quickly, but had a higher murder rate per capa than modern day New York or Los Angeles. The Court House that served to hang criminals soon became a hot spot of paranormal activity. But the most dangerous part of the town is the bridge that lies on the outskirts. Commonly referred to as the Nine Inch Nails Bridge (because of the band's insignia inscribed on the center of the bridge) , it has satanic rituals, demon possessions, and more vile energy than you care to encounter there. Dead animal carcases are found in the shed, and dead people are also found there with regularity. The bridge was originally built as part of the highway, but a new highway was built some years ago, and The Marshall Bridge was abandoned.

PRESENT STATUS:

The Bridge is still an active spot for paranormal activity. Some mysticists/pychics say the bridge is a gateway to hell. Others think it is just so soaked in evil, negative energy, it acts as an attractor for all the hostile spirits and energies in the area. Black Hat Paranormal Investigations suggests that you do not travel there if you do not know how to protect yourself spiritually.

JOSH'S THOUGHTS:

Native Americans had used the site long before white settlers had gotten there. The area had been used for rituals and ceremonies, but probably of a more benevolent nature. In current times, the site is still used for ceremonies, but a much darker kind. A bridge naturally has 3 of the 4 magickal elements. Earth, Air, and Water. And due to the large amount of burn marks and remains of fires on the bridge, people have apparently been adding the 4th element, Fire. With these 4 elements, combined with the dark rituals of the mysticists, I think a portal was opened. There is a Satanic altar underneath the bridge, at the bottom the steps carved from stone. Another odd thing about the bridge, is that when two people stand on either side of the bridge, they have trouble seeing each other. Like there is a distortion in the middle of the bridge. The distortion is especially strong at night. This could be explained by temperature differential or some other naturally occuring phenomenon. The bridge's main use of late is a hazing ground for the local fraternities.

DAN'S THOUGHTS:

The Marshall Bridge was my first challenge as a mysticist. It was the first place I had ever gone where I was truly in danger. I've found the bridge to be strange in the fact that some nights it is extremely hostile, and some nights, there is nothing at all. It's definetly a hit or miss kind of thing. Will-O-Wisps tend to be the main entity in activity on the bridge, but when the others come, watch out. They can be extremely dangerous. And spirits aren't the only thing there to be concerned about. Gang Bangers and Satan Worshippers also frequent the bridge enough to present a threat to your health.
